If you're looking for sustainable hardwood timber slabs, you've come to the right place. Here at The Wood Project, we salvage logs from across Victoria and mill them to produce an amazing array of timber slabs of all shapes and sizes.
Never sourced from forestry, we're passionate about salvaging timber (that's otherwise destined for burn piles or landfiull) to provide a second-life and extend the history of these incredible trees. We salvage, mill, and kiln dry all of our timber here on site and can provide a unique history for every slab.
About our Timber Slabs
We offer a large, unprecedented range of natural 'live' edge slabs from a variety of ever-changing timbers including Red Gum, Messmate, Sugar Gum, Bunya Pine, Cypress, English Oak, Cedar, Claret Ash, and more. Our timber slabs are milled and dried in our kiln, down to 10 percent moisture content which makes them optimal for furniture making or timber products (think; hardwood dining tables, bar tops, shelves, vanities, and more!).
Our live edge timber slabs have the original shape and edges of the tree kept in tact. This produces a beautiful uniqueness, warmth and character to your slab and speaks to it's incredible history. Live edged furniture is becoming increasingly trendy, however, you'll never find a slab in a store quite the same as a salvaged log! The grains and character of the trees we salvage are often more than 180 years old with an amazing history.
Whilst we often mill with live-edges in-tact, we can also turn any slab into a straight-edge piece (on one side or two) which can create a more sleek and polished finish. We like to provide as many opportunities as possible for our slabs to find their second life which is why we provide this choice.

We use a competitive freight partner to transport our slabs all over Australia, so reach out if you'd like us to provide a freight estimate for something you have your eye on.
Please note that we do not offer a kiln drying service to the public; we only kiln dry our own slabs.
